| Malcolm -- This morning, Michelle and I awoke to some surprising and humbling news. At 6 a.m., we received word that I'd been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009. To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize -- men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace. But I also know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it's also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes. That is why I've said that I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations and all peoples to confront the common challenges of the 21st century. These challenges won't all be met during my presidency, or even my lifetime. But I know these challenges can be met so long as it's recognized that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone. This award -- and the call to action that comes with it -- does not belong simply to me or my administration; it belongs to all people around the world who have fought for justice and for peace. And most of all, it belongs to you, the men and women of America, who have dared to hope and have worked so hard to make our world a little better. So today we humbly recommit to the important work that we've begun together. I'm grateful that you've stood with me thus far, and I'm honored to continue our vital work in the years to come. Thank you, President Barack Obama | |

Critics of Barack Obama/ SNL Skit
Recently SNL performed a skit portraying President Obama as a do nothing "President". Below is a snippet from About.com:
"Saturday Night Live" opened its show with a particularly harsh send-up of President Obama last night. The critique focused on failed promises, as a checklist repeatedly appeared to the right of the screen that had "NOT DONE" checked off next to the following categories: global warming, immigration reform, gays in the military, limits on executive powers, torture prosecutions, closing Gitmo, withdrawing from Iraq, improving the status of the fight in Afghanistan, health care reform, etc.

Your views of President Obama may coincide with this view, that he has not accomplish any thing up until the present time. But I would like to pose this question to you. Knowing how the government works in the United States Of America what do you expect for 9 months of work?
I am no Sherlock Holmes but I know this, the image of this country was looked down upon through out the world! The last Administration did not inspire us, it did not give us hope. What I recalled about the last 8 years was war, greed, fear, Hummers, $40,000 tax breaks etc. etc.. etc...Enron,K Street on and on!
Now what we have is a constant barrage of insults and rhetoric of President Barack Obama running this country into the ground. Versus insulting The President why don't all of his critic do something to help?
I do not recall any member in the Republican party during President Bush administration advocating for universal health care? I do recall the Republicians wanting to take money out of the Social Security Fund and investing it in the stock market?
I want to congratulate President Obama for being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. It is well deserved because of what he has bought to the table. The ability to inspire hope through out the world in 9 months! I wonder what would have been the reaction if President Bush was awarded the prize?

Hopes Of President Barack Obama
The story of President Obama is the story of America and all that it stands for. Although his story is a unique one in the history of America as being the first African American to be elected President.
His story is not so unique in that through hard work and perseverance any one who arrives in this great country can achieve what ever one is determine to. It is the goal of "Hopes Of Obama.org" to follow his Presidency and track his policies, issues, life ,accomplishments and failures.
Gratitude & Thanks

United States .
His story is the American story — values from the heartland, a middle-class upbringing in a strong family, hard work and education as the means of getting ahead, and the conviction that a life so blessed should be lived in service to others.
With a father fromKenya and a mother from Kansas , President Obama was born in Hawaii on August 4, 1961.
He was raised with help from his grandfather, who served in Patton's army, and his grandmother, who worked her way up from the secretarial pool to middle management at a bank.
After working his way through college with the help of scholarships and student loans, President Obama moved toChicago , where he worked with a group of churches to help rebuild communities devastated by the closure of local steel plants.
He went on to attend law school, where he became the first African—American president of the Harvard Law Review. Upon graduation, he returned toChicago to help lead a voter
registration drive, teach constitutional law at theUniversity of Chicago , and remain active in his community.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples. The Committee has attached special importance to Obama's vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.
Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama's initiative, theUSA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.
Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future. His diplomacy is founded in the concept that those who are to lead the world must do so on the basis of values and attitudes that are shared by the majority of the world's population
.
For 108 years, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has sought to stimulate precisely that international policy and those attitudes for which Obama is now the world's leading spokesman. The Committee endorses Obama's appeal that "Now is the time for all of us to take our share of responsibility for a global response to global challenges."
